Day 23

Here we are. 234 studio is finished. Here you can see some pictures of the studio. I did all my best trying to realize a studio with not so much money and without using plastic. The plastic killed the ceramic and I will work with clay. Hope that you like what I did. If you are far from me you can visit the studio just doing the virtual tour here below. Day 22

This is part of the last wall. Here I painted some platforms that I am using to show some great modern and ancient pieces of ceramic. Today I creted also a small carpet for the entry. It is made with different pieces of other carpets. I bought 6 but I used only 3.  Everything is ready now. I have only to decide the last things.

Day 21

This is the wall with  the cases and the mirrors.  I will add some plants and maybe an old phone ... if I find one. Today I cleaned also all the floor. I didn't write anything about the floor but it is super-cool, infact It is made using cork. This material is unusual but ecological and supersoft to trample. At the enter I located also two piece of a false-grass carpet. Tomorrow I will buy the last things.

Day 20

I am working on the wall where there is a window. I painted two mirrors and I will hang up them there. I bought only 2 small pigment colours and a piece of sandpaper to wear out some colours and give an old aspect to the mirrors. I have also 3 old cases... perfect places to put books and stuff.

The pigment colours cost: 1 euro each
The sandpaper: 0,50 euro

Day 19

I finished the second  half of the studio. Now I can work on the first half. I don't want to do a lot of things here for 2 reasons: 

1) I haven't so much money;

2) I will use this part to show most of the things taht I will produce, so people should pay attention on them, without distractions. 

I will have some boxes, mirrors and plants. Today I also spread a solution on some wood that had woodworm.

The solution cost 3,5 euro

Day 18

Here we are. The time is not so much and also the money are finishing. I am in a hurry but  I am happy about what I am doing. Today I arranged the desk and the sofa. I also used two old table lamps and a stool.

Day 17

I building this long open shelf. I didn't use the wood that I had collected because it was damaged. For this reason I had to project everything and buy all the pieces of wood at the carpenter. As usually i didn't project it well and now it's really hard to find a rational solution while I am mounting.

Day 16

It's time to collect some objects to create something nice. I don't have a lot of money so I should realize everything starting from garbage. I went to this bad place where I founf these rusted tin cans. I don't rember where, but I saw in a website somebody that realized wonderful pots using tin cans. Anyway I want to create also a forniture where I can leave all the staff that I had collected in the last years. I found some wood that I can use to create it, but maybe I should buy more. 

Day 15

The girl using the brush is Valeria, my sweetheart. I would like to thank her and some friends of mine  for all the support  that they are giving to me into the project. Today we overpaint the door with withe paint and  later we use the same varnish of the shelfs. The result is quite the same ivory of the beginning. I can't see the difference.  Anyway the desk is now ready. I recevied also a Sofa from Valeria. Fortunately It fitted into the door. Also the wall B is now ready.

Day 14

I cleaned the floor. It was quite hard because a lot of withe passed the plastic clothes and was crusty. When all the studio was cleaned I planned how to organize the space. I don't have a lot of money. The sofa is quite impossible to buy and the door is small. Fortunately my sweet half is thinking to make me a gift. Let's do it.

Day 13

The desk is quite ready. Yesterday I received the trestles that I bought from internet. Suggestion: If you can't find what you want by yourself, just surf the net. In this way I saved money and I found the Ikea Artur,  perfectly for my studio. As usally I have problem with ikea fornitures but my friends (Maurizio and the  2 Totores) saved me. 

I spent for 2 trestles 36 euro

Day 12

These are my shelfs. I was thinking to realize them using old timbers but when I went to a ceramic shop next the mine I had an idea. Traditionally ceramic laboratory have wooden bar where they lean fresh clay objects. In this way the clay can dry naturally. In my dialect the name of this wooden bar is "rutiedde". I asked to the the ceramic shop few of them and I received them for free. After I composed and mounted the shelfs and finally I painted them using the varnish.

Day 11

 You don't know that I have this wonderful view from my roof. One day when I will have more money I would like to create somenthing on it. But now I can't. I have to clean what I took away from the Pyre:

- A door ( 200 x 75 x 4 cm). It comes from an old school and it's big enough to be the top of my desk;

- 2 old crates. I will use them maybe like flower boxes;

- A footstool. I don't know why I decided to took it.
Today I cleaned  them and I spoke with the owner of a ceramic shop.....  I have the solution for the shelfs where I will show my objects.

Day 10

San Ciro, Grottaglie's Patron Saint, is every year celebrate with the focra (pyre). People from our city leave in a big place a hug amount of wood, burned the 31th of January. Today I went to this place asking to the people if I can take away some of the wood. They were extremely kind to give me this chance. I found something really important that I will use for the project. Thank you San Ciro for the offer. Today I painted also the last things in withe (windows and banister).

Day 9

Stop the withe. After hours spent painting walls i can finally wash my glasses. The result is quite good and starting from tomorrow I can focalize my attention on the furniture. The funny part will come soon. Anyway I was lucky because I had the paint and the brushes, so today I didn't spend money.

Day 8

This morning I spread on the walls the same solution that I made for the other half of the studio (fixative, water and glue). After it I used the water-repellent on the ceiling. In the afternoon I was looking for a good solution for the desk. I would like to buy 2 trestles and a big piece of wood. At the IKEA there are the Vika Artur (25 euro each) but at the moment they are not avaible in Bari. I can't wait.

Day 7

 I spent all the boring day fighting against the dust. I cleaned all the wall and finally I went to a professional shop. The owner suggested me a powerfull water-repellent that will fix all the dust of the ceiling. This is was really expansive but I had to buy it.

Day 6

It's time to move everything on the second half. It's time to start to work on the first half. Here I will follow the some steps of the second half but I have to paint a window more and I have to solve a HUGE problem. The ceiling has plenty off dust and I should find a professional solution. The glue + fixative + water will not work here.

Day 5

I was trying to furnish the wall A so I decided to visit  the garbage dump. Unfortunatly this one in the picture is one of the smallest dump in my city. The are bigger and bigger but only in this one you can look for abandoned furnitures. I found a blanket chest in not good condition and I decided to painted it in withe. After I went to an antiquarian where I bought a golden mirror. I will furnish the wall A this 2 object.

Day 4

Organizing the second half

I finished to paint the shelfs and the walls of the second hal of the studio. The results was quite good and i love the difference of the coulour beetwen the walls (withe) and the ceiling (natural stone's yellow). This morning I did a project organizing the space. I named the 3 walls as A-B-C and I had I lovely idea. I will remove the shelfs from the walls A and B and I will obtain more space. I will locate a forniture on the wall A and a sofa and a Desk on the wall B.

Day 3

Green VS Withe

The walls are full of dust and dump. There are also green shelfs fixed on them. Today we (Peppo Nuzzo and I) will overpaint the shelfs using withe cans and I will paint the walls using the withe tempera. I will not paint the ceiling that is really tipycal. It is made setting stones and modelling them.

2 backet of  Tempera: 22 euro
4 withe cans: 12 euro
Total: 34 euro

Day 2

I moved all the objects on the first half. Now it is time to start. The walls have a problem. When you pass a finger on them, a lot of dust start to rain. We are trying a cheep solution:

- The product here belowe is the Fixative. I mixed it with glue and water and we (Totore Ciughetto, Iatta and I) spread this solution on the walls.

For this operation I spent:
Fixative: 3,5 euro
Brush: 3 euro
Ground Cloth: 1 euro
Tape: 2 euro
Total: 9,5 euro

Day 1

Planning

This is the map of the studio. The conditions are good and it is quite bigger. Inside there are a lot of stuff, ceramics, forniture, ecc. Before to start I need a project, but before to make a project I should do an analysis with advantages and disadvantages. Here it is:

I will divide the studio into 2 half. I will move everything in the first half . In this way I will be free to paint and organize the second half. When I will finish it I will move everything on the other side, so I will be free to finish the first half.
